Jeremy
Irons was one of the first 'older' actors I noticed. By 'older', I mean
after the stage we all go through when we like people like Leonardo
diCaprio and young girly people like that. I'd always kind of admired
Jeremy Irons after my parents told me it was he who did the voice of
Scar in The Lion King. And then I saw him in The Man in
the Iron Mask, but didn't really twig, and it was only after I
started to like Alan Rickman that I thought that perhaps Jeremy Irons
could be attractive too. Perhaps?? He's one of the most attractive men
on the planet. The voice, the looks, the acting! Not only is
he gorgeous, he's a fabulous actor - you can know what he's thinking,
or what the character's thinking, just by the turn of his head, the
sound of his voice, all that. Yum. But I suppose we'd better get on.
Here are the pictures I have of Jeremy Irons. The lovely guy.
 |
Here
he is in The Man in the Iron Mask as the priest Aramis.
He has a wonderful line in this film:
Athos:
What gives you the right to judge me, to play God with the lives
of others? Is it because you're so much holier than anyone else?
Aramis: Well yes, but also because I'm more intelligent
than anyone else.
Isn't
it brilliant? So wonderfully ... oh, I don't know. Anyway, on
with the pictures. |
 |
Here
is a closeup of Aramis which I think shows how worried he is throughout
most of the film, despite the rather dry humour. It also shows him
as rather more vulnerable, perhaps lonely? I haven't read the book,
but the character of Aramis is not developed much in the film at
all, so we are left to wonder and imagine rather a lot. |

Here's
Jeremy in Die Hard with a Vengeance. These films have rather
awful plots, but good action and some good lines. I can't stand
Bruce Willis, but here Irons plays Simon Gruber, the brother of
Hans Gruber, the man played by Alan Rickman whom Willis threw out
of a skyscraper in the first film Die Hard. But Irons is
clever, despite the terrible German accent, suave, which Bruce Willis
is most definitely not, and funny. A very likeable, if
rather evil, character. And he gets to have a little fun just before
he dies (watch the film and you'll see what I mean!). |
 |
This
has got to be one of my favourite pictures of Jeremy Irons. I think
it's posed, a publicity thing, but he's quite a lot younger here
than in many of my other photos of him, and you can really see the
hard jawline and those sharp brown eyes. The hair isn't half bad,
either! |
 |
I
don't know where this one is from, but he's really rather nice in
this photo. Sort of ... worn, and 'haggard' as Anna said. Lovely. |
 |
Another
posed photo, I think - but doesn't he look so rough and rugged?
He does smoke, has done since he was fifteen, but if that's what's
given him the lovely voice then I'm all for it! |
 |
And
no, this isn't my signed photo. I wish. But I don't actually know
if I like the photo that much. Not one of his best, I think. |
 |
Aww.
Happy Jeremy. How lovely. Actually when I saw him on Graham Norton
he did have a lovely smile, and a wonderful sense of humour. Nice
teeth to flash at people! Like his wife, grr... |
 |
I
think this is from a film where he plays two twins. Or it could
be a schizophrenic man. I can't quite remember. I haven't seen it,
anyway. I just like the suit! |
 |
This
one looks to be out of a magazine or something - there's like a
quote from him on the right side of it which I can't actaully read.
But the photo shows off his nice toned arms wonderfully! |
